98 Civic EX Seafoam?

Hi,

I've been trying to do my homework on Seafoam before trying it on my coupe. But I'm still learning the maintenance ropes, so it'd be nice to get additional input.

I'm going to wait until the oil needs to be changed again (late spring, I think). And then use 1/3 bottle in tank, oil, and brake booster line. I want to make sure I've identified the brake booster line, picture attached. I can take the booster line off of the little spigot on the mid-back of the intake manifold (I think?) and I'm considering using a turkey baster (like a big syringe) to drip the seafoam in. The 'spigot' is circled in the picture.

I'm fairly sure of the procedure: have a friend idle car at ~1500rpm with BB line off, slowly allow the line to suck up 1/3 bottle of seafoam (In my case, slowly drip the seafoam into that metal tube on the manifold), stop car, let sit for half an hour, drive spiritedly (which will be difficult for me in my small suburban city :_disgust: Tons of police).

Just for quick clarification, when people refer to adding Seafoam to a "crankcase" do they mean engine oil, or manual transmission fluid?

My car has 350+k miles, should I forego the seafoam in case it damages this relic of an engine?

Thanks

I went back and looked at the tube I highlighted in the picture, and noticed that there is no check valve on it, which is mentioned along with the brake booster quite often. A smaller, flimsier (like, aquarium quality) hose is directly behind it, visible in the picture. This does have a small check-valve-looking-thing, and is connected to the bottom of the intake manifold.

What I want to know is what I should look out for considering the car will be 20+ years old. Stuff like how many km is too many, and what problems to expect with its age.

Hi guys,

I have a 2008 Civic coupe with 43 000km on it. I have a P0420 code that I cleared 3 times and it always came back. Also, I noticed that the check engine light comes back when I'm on the highway. Last week, I replaced my ETC sensor and it didn't fix the issue. Finally, the gas mileage isn't very good for a Civic (220km = 23L). Do you guys think that the problem is the O2 sensor or the cat?

Thank you for your help!

Need a speedy answer if you could assist me... looking to buy it tomorrow at the earliest.

Hey guy's I just test drove a 2006 civic EX with 94,000km on it. I noticed two things that I don't know I should be concerned about.. perhaps a little insight?

2006 civic ex
1.8L
94,000 KM
(Original owner was an old man)

Well anyway, the car has been sitting on the lot at a dealership for a while now and I drove it tonight. I noticed a ticking coming from the engine that sounded like a fan was hitting something every 2 seconds.. is it perhaps since these are little 4 bangers and thats the nature of a cold start up?? (after a fresh 1 foot snowfall the night before)

My other issues is the keyless entry... When I hit unlock twice, it unlocks the doors but only I can get in the drivers side.. all other doors are locked. Is this normal?

Options for me are to buy it and just get an extra key cut... or buy a new keyless for $50 on a site that I found --- > http://www.originalkeyless.com/2006-Hond...Remote.htm
