How to Tell what Trim Model Your Prelude is...
If your shopping for a BB1-BB4 Prelude or you just don't know what your prelude is i have made a list to check to see.
First of all Look on drivers side door on the Body its self their should be a Silver/Grey sticker with the label either being S, SI, or VTEC. This area also shows the Interior and exterior paint numbers, and the tire pressure.
If its faded or is absent then check to see if the Gauges have ABS light on them it should be located where the check engine, brake, oil, empty gas, lights are located. If you see the light then it will either be Si or a VTEC if its not their then chances are you have the S model.
If your wondering how to tell the difference between the SI and the VTEC is the Diameter of the Rotors the Vtecs have bigger size rotor compared to the Si and S that share the same size rotors. Another way to tell is that the VTEC where the only cars that came with Leather as standard equipment.
For the Engines:
S came with the F22A1
Valve covers say 16 Valve
Si came with the H23A1
Valve cover Just has the Honda Emblem on top and have the HONDA name on the bottom
VTEC or Si VTEC came with the H22A1
Valve cover says DOHC VTEC
All these these letters and numbers can be found right below, between the water outlet and Exhaust Manifold/Header.
Hope this help you out if your shopping so that people don't lie :arg:to you and tell you that its VTEC model when its really S or SI with DOHC VTEC motor. Or a S with H23A1 motor.
