Hail damage
I own a 2001 and I've kept it in pretty much showroom condition the whole time I've had it. Recently we had a freak hail storm and the hail completely took out my back plastic window. That was a bummer in its self, but wasn't that big of a deal as I'm sure the back plastic window wouldn't be too terribly expensive. But today I went out to look at it a little closer and found that the convertible top has small tears in it. This is quite disappointing to say the least... So I have a few questions.
For one, I have full coverage, so my insurance should be able to cover the damage, but do any of you have a clue as to whether they would just patch up the tears? I've seen convertible top tear "solutions" using anything from tape to glue... In my opinion...that's dumb. I wouldn't dream of using glue or tape on any car, let alone a sports car. Has anyone had any experience dealing with insurance companies over this kind of stuff? What is involved with getting it replaced? Also, where can I find the back plastic window and what do they go for?
I do plan on selling it at the end of the year because I will be moving out of the country...but still... I want to sell it in good condition.
I hate that this car comes only in convertible. If I hadn't wanted this car since I was in High School, I would have never bought it just because of the convertible top...But I had to overlook that because of my love for the car. Anyways, any info will help as the insurance company is closed over weekends of course.
